Huntingdon Regional College will join the Lisa Kent Trust on a two week work placement in March 2012

In conjunction with the Cromwell Rotary Club and The Lisa Kent Trust, Huntingdon Regional College sent out 11 students and two teachers on a sports coaching placement.

This trip had been planned since April 2011, when the Sports students had to write an essay as to why they should be chosen to come out to The Gambia.

Fundraising has been going on both in and out of the College with a varied programme of charity events from bag packing, collecting at the local racecourse, a 24 hour cycling/rowing exercise to the Gambia, jumble sale etc.

The students  lived amongst the local community and  worked in a Lower Basic School for part of the day, coaching 7-14 year old students. This was followed by playing/coaching with the local football teams. There was a grand tournament at the end of their two week stay.

This was a life changing experience for these students, who saw life from a very different perspective and were able to soak up the Gambian culture.
